Cold zones that should stay cold

Notebook with sketches beside a laptop

Cold Zone Clinic exists because teams panic at blue. An empty margin on a first-run permission screen is not automatically a failure. Sometimes it is breathing room that keeps the primary action unmistakable.

We ask learners to classify cold regions into three bins: unreachable (interaction debt), unread (content debt), or intentionally quiet (layout health). Only the first two deserve tickets.

Onboarding-specific twist

First sessions compress. People skip legal copy, hammer “Continue,” and ignore secondary education cards. Heating those cards may harm completion. Measure whether warming a zone improves the downstream activation you care about — not whether the overlay looks balanced.

Limitation worth stating

If your sample is under a few hundred completed first runs, coldness is noisy. Screen Heatmap Studio Module 2 covers sampling floors; this post will not pretend otherwise.
